Okay this one is going to be tough.

What is your favorite James Woods movie?

There are so many great movies to choose from that even picking 8 that I could put in the poll was tough. So I have included an option for "other" and please if you choose that let us know what you think.

As usual there will be a random draw of all entrants. Someone will be getting some Hollywood Poker gear.

Don't forget him as the Dad in Virgin Suicides - but my other real favorite is My Name is Bill W. I thought he trully brought that character to life for me. Oh well, really like him in whatever he is in but I would add these two to the list.

Although most all of his films are my favs, I'd have to say Once Upon A Time In America. I've seen it about 8 times and would watch it again and again. The story grabs you from the get go and never let's you go. The acting from all the cast was, to me, the best I've seen in a long time. James, as Maximilian, made his part so believable, as did all who were casted, that I didn't look at the actors as actors but as a window into the past. That is why it was a great movie to me.

"Leanly built, strangely handsome with intense eyes." That's a James Wood description and in no other movie than "The Specialist" 1994 was that apparent for me. A brutally handsome yet utterly profound character to which James played Ned Trent's character in amazement through my eyes. It has been ages since I felt "Aww Damn!" when they killed off Ned Trent.

So here I sit tossed between The Specialist and another great movie "Another Day In Paradise" I actually watched the movie because I enjoyed Melanie Griffith but soon found "Mel" to be the character worth watching LOL.

I think I am going with "OTHER" in the name of NED TRENT ;)

P.S. Patricia you are so right when you say there are so many great ones. I have satalite and I can watch a movie everyday of the week any time of day...and sure enough..James will be in one of them. I've seen it 4 days in a row...and that was just last week "well, well, there he is again!".
As for how many "Voice" he does...well, there are so many I swear I hear it in my sleep sometimes. LOL

I just can't get over how great he was as the voice of Hades in Disney's Hercules. I mean, I know it's not a canonic example of a stellar performance, but he was just so so so dynamic!

Everyone forgot about my favorite James Woods movie. The one where he was a tough as nails hero, in a semi religious sort of way. John Carpenter's Vampires. Loved the way he did that on scene walking away from the motel tossing the lighter over his shoulder to burn them down.

There are so many good choices for best characters that he has played. I went down the list of his movies and the one that really stood out to me was his ruthless killer for hire who was working for mobsters in The Specialist.

He made totally believable a character who would improvise a bomb, activate it and then tell some poor schlub to disarm it before it blows up in his hands -just to prove a point.

well i didn't even know who james or micheal woods were till i came here lol
Can't say i've seen any of the above movies...but then i'm not a movie buff anyway.
When i joined and got wind of stars playing here etc i thought it was poker stars lol. People that were famous for there poker playing etc. Well since coming here i guess they are now lol.
Tis a bonus to find we have real hollywood stars here and to top that. The fact they are not stuck up thier own rear ends and have fun at the tables and in the lobby is great.
Makes no dif that i havn't seen the movies. The stars here are real stars :waytogo:

There are too many to choose from but I do like Immediate Family, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Hard Way, Best Seller, Promise, The Bill W Story & Fast Walking.

Then I think of another one & another one like, Salvador, Diggstown, Onion Field, etc. They all have something special.

Well, I voted for Once Upon A Time In America because I truly believe if it hadn't been cut by almost an hour and half for American audiences, thus that being the only version elegible for Oscars, it would have won best picture, actor, etc. Thankfully the full version is now available as it is an epic of great proportions. Jimmy and Robert DeNiro are fantastic as are basically the whole cast. Another favorite of mine is True Believer. Also The Hard Way, Promise, Diggstown, Salvador, Onion Field, Vampires, and the list goes on and on. I'm truly proud to be the brother of such a fine actor. Now he just needs to learn poker...

John Carpenters "Vampires", commmmeeeee on, how could we forget this one??? Destined to become a cult classic. And also what about "Straight Talk" with Dolly Parton?? again, another good one, not to fond of "chick" flicks, but this one rocks
