First, I think it is a great idea holding private tourneys for poker enthusiasts here to bring more traffic to the site and more people into the HP community, such as the NPPL tourney on Sat. (I'm not an NPPL player, just noticed a few things worth mentioning)
Second, I have to give a huge pat on the back to HP-Mike for the awesome job he did trying to get all the NPPL players all set up and running for their private tournament, I know myself and a few others were helping out where we could giving the same answers for the 80th and 90th times as more and more people unfamiliar with the site (an online poker in general) logged in and were asking the same questions.
Unfortunately, some people did not make it into the game and there were a few people left disappointed, which does not help promote HP poker. A couple suggestions I would have are... (i) to set up an email for the hosting group to send out with complete, simple step by step instructions on how to sign up for the site, enable your account and sign up for the tourney that even the most basic computer users can follow, this email can be recycled for each 'private' tourney. (ii) allow signups for up to a week prior to a private tourney, instead of a small 2-hour window, and have instuctions in the email (see (i) above) on how to check if your tourney registration is confirmed, so people aren't all trying at the last minute, and (iii) have a better description in the tourney listing so all the non-members of the group won't keep asking how to join to get their chance at the freebie...
