Don't know if anyone is familiar with this phenomenon, but . . . I was dealt pocket aces in "Frenzy" tournament tonight (Hand # 847,823,077). I called big blind, short stack to my left goes all-in, guy to my right calls him. Just as I am about to go all-in, my screen freezes for just a split-second, then my hand is folded, and the two other players are in showdown mode. ALL within about 3 seconds!
Did I take too long? No, can't be. The time from the first all-in to the showdown was no more than 12 seconds. Also, it never gave me the "It's your turn to act!" message. So, it wasn't a delay.
Was I disconnected? The game log says that I was. However, it is supposedly HollywoodPoker software "policy" to allow a player another 30 seconds to reconnect. Didn't happen. It all happened in less than 5 seconds.
This same problem happened over at PokerRoom. Players on the their message boards were calling it "The Blink". For a couple of weeks, PokerRoom denied the problem, until it became clear that it was not just a fluke. It happened to dozens of players. Finally, PokerRoom changed their story and no longer blamed the players' connection, and they admitted that the software needed a patch. After they repaired the software, the problem went away.
Still, loyal players were ticked off that PokerRoom would not believe or understand the problem for so long. Well, I am sad to say that Hollywood Poker's telephone support is in the same category now. They tell me that I took too long -- "But why didn't I get the Hurry Up prompt?" They then say, actually you disconnected. "But why didn't I get the full time to reconnect?" To which they bluntly say, Hollywood Poker cannot refund for this situation. Sorry.
Well, more of my time and play is going back to PokerRoom, until Hollywood support grows up and treats experienced players like they are rational customers and not delusional folks just trying to get rebates or credits. Poor job, Hollywood Poker!
