Thanks to everyone who submitted articles for this week's Write to Win contest! You all have upped the ante and we had a difficult time choosing the finalists this week. But after much deliberation, we narrowed it down to these three:
These are the players in your neighborhood: The people you’ve met playing at HollywoodPoker.com
Article #1:
Moving day - it’s always stressful, frantic and disorganized. However, the reward at the end of the day is a new place to call your own and an opportunity to meet new neighbors and make lasting friendships.
My world of online poker play took on a new face that 8th day of May, 2005. It was the day I unpacked my bags and settled into my new digs at HollywoodPoker.com
Always the quiet one, I took my time and lurked around for a few days, not wanting to disrupt the evident friendships that have developed in the lobby and most likely endured hardships at the poker tables.
Looking around, I liked what I saw. From the friendly people chatting away from all corners of the globe, the celebrity sightings that always cause a ruckus and to the freshly felted red tables at which sat a strange assortment of oddities (where else can you find granny playing heads up against a purple-haired mullet?). It was comfortable here, and I was to now call it home.
Over the course of the next few weeks, I slowly started to join in the chat and found some of the personalities to be quite entertaining! The friendly banter in the lobby would progress to the tables where bragging rights were on the line. No matter the outcome, it was always followed by a “gg” back in the lobby. Of course, that could just a quickly be followed by a “you suck! ;-)”
Closing the blinds before I retire for the night, I peer out the window one last time like a father checking up on his children. Welcome to Hollywood, I’m going to like it here…

I thought, "Better grab a coke and get to the computer".
I sat down at the computer ready for the Easy Money tournament, which I had played for a few weeks now and had started to get the hang of. I clicked the tournament title and was directed into the lobby. The chatter and laughter was a normal activity which took place before the tourney started.
In the lobby familiar names were listed on the players list:
Senatorwu, who of course never missed out on a chance to make some cash.
Honeycomb1, who loved the action and was bubbly as usual and very popular on the site.
kasilof, who was an educated player always looking for some easy money.
dbiggkat, who was a good friend of mine that rarely missed the final table.
There were many others on the list which I immediately recognized. I thought to myself how odd it was that everyone here knew each other, but had never seen each other in person; what a strange but comfortable community to be a part of.
I was seated at my table and the chat box was filled with “hello”, “gl”, “how have you been” and all the other greetings players used to notice each other's presence. The game went on that night as usual and another unnoticed night of unity was in the books.
I went to sleep that night thinking of how all these people were friends who shared a simple passion for playing internet poker and how close it had brought all of us.

Article #3:
When I first started playing at Hollywood Poker.com, I had a year of playing Texas Hold 'em under my belt and was ready to hit the ring games and tournaments semi full-time.
I started to chat with players such as jozepy24 and PrairieRose. Soon I realized this was a good site and it was fun to play with such friendly people. Then I started to see some "stars" in rooms such as Michael Woods, James Woods, Steven Collins, and Mena Suvari. I was able to play with them and chat with them as well. What a great site!
I never dreamed I would be able to play for real money with celebrities just like on TV. Even the support team people are so friendly which makes it enjoyable as well.
The bottom line is when you know you have set site that you can play on everyday such as HollywoodPoker.com, it makes your game better too. You are not on tilt as much when you are playing with such nice people. If you are serious about becoming a professional online poker player, Hollywood Poker.com is the site for you.
When you are lying in bed at night and still thinking about that last hand and analyzing it in your dreams – well, that means you've got it. You are now a poker player and you will never lose that feeling.
Hollywood Poker.com has given me that feeling that we all have and I would never play on another site again. It's all about the people and feeling comfortable at the table. When you are angry at players, your game is not as good.
That is what Hollywood Poker offers you: great poker with great people. Hope you all will stay all in with me. Good luck everyone!
