I would like to take this opportunity to clear up any confusion there might be regarding the changes to our freerolls.

1.The freerolls that allow a maximum enrollment of 2000 players are unrestricted freerolls that all real money enabled players can join.

2.The freerolls that allow up to 200 players to join are poker point freerolls. These require a ticket that can be purchased for 10 player points on your “my account” page.

These poker point freerolls are the first step in our poker point exchange program. This is a program that will get bigger and provide more options for redeeming your poker points. It is also worth noting that poker points have a relative base economy of 1 cent per point. I say base economy because that is essentially the lowest possible value that will be assigned to a poker point.
Example:

If 200 players entered the freeroll at 10 points each with a prize pool of $20, each point would have a value of 1 cent. If however, only 100 players entered the freeroll the value would of course then be 2 cents per point.

These freerolls will not be the only means for cashing out your points. The celebrity shootout for example requires 1000 points to receive a $20+2 ticket. This would be a value of 2.2 cents per point. In fact the value is much higher than that when you consider the added money bounties, WSOP package and the chance that the $10,000 guarantee might not be met. Again, I want to stress that we are still in the midst of building our poker points payback program.

We have received some feed back from players suggesting that if we are going to increase the enrolment numbers on the unrestricted freerolls that we should also increase the prize pool. Back in May we gave out over $18,000 in freerolls that had an average overlay of $1 per player. This was simply a promotion and in no way could this sort of value be instituted as a permanent feature. I have yet to see a site offer a $1 per player overlay for unrestricted freerolls that are conducted several times a day. I realize that some sites offer daily (not hourly) freerolls that have prize pools as high as $1000. I do not want to sound argumentative and I do not want to put down our competition in any way, but many of these freerolls allow up to 10,000 players. Many do not pay out cash; instead they pay out bonus dollars that must be earned out. Other sites require players to play a certain number of raked hands in order to gain access to these freerolls.

I am making this post in an attempt to clear up any confusion that might be surrounding the changes to the freerolls. I understand why some of you are frustrated by these changes but please understand that the freeroll structure in May was a limited time promotion. We care about our players and strive to ensure that everyone has a positive experience at Hollywood Poker.

I love all the changes. Expanding the number of seats allows a lot more the the first 20 or 30 to play.
Opening up the freerolls to non-points players is great for those who can't or won't make real $$ deposits.
Thanks for thinking about the players. :)
