An article in a TV magazine here in Ontario Canada called Movie Entertainment has listed some numbers for stats on playing holdem online.
Interesting, so I thought I would share it.
Stats:
*Canadians are the second largest group of online poker fanatics. next to the players from the U.S.
*20 percent of Canadian players are women, up from less than one percent 10 years ago. GO LADIES!
*Probability of getting a royal flush 1 in 649,739
*Probability of getting a pair 1 in 4
*Number of books about poker 565
*Estimated number of active real-money players online during April 2005 1,773,700
*Estimated total of real money wagered in ring games in a recent 24-hr period 190,700,681
Wow, talk about a baby boom!!!!!! Internet poker is the newest trend in Hollywood and around the world. (Hmm, need to check my internet stocks..)
They even give some poker lingo like:
Berry Patch: A game with many unskilled players playing.
Cranberry: A player who calls against the pot-odds.
Dolly Parton: A straight 5-9 (nine to five)
Komodo dragoned: A player's hand is defeated because of an opponent completing a straight or flush on the river.
Komodo being my favorite LOL.
Now if there was an interview with James for Hollywood in this, it would have been an excellent article. ;)
