Submission #1:

Requiem for WSOP Dead Money

What glory for those busted out as dead money?
The clatter from their departing former chips.
Only the death rattle mutters of “nice hand”,
Will patter out the losers' heartbroken trips.
No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,
The shrill, demented choirs of frustration’s hell;
And their hearts' despair of lost lifelong desire.
What applause may be given to speed them all?
Not from the hands of hopeful fans but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of unsaid goodbyes.
The pallor of railbirds’ brows shall be their pall;
Their trophy the tenderness of patient minds.
They all know that they have given their all,
And each new deal brings a posting of the blinds.

Submission #2:

Thank you Hollywood Poker for the opportunity to not only partake in the WSOP Celebrity Shootout, but also for allowing the opportunity to share my experience with everyone.

I have been a member of Hollywood Poker since January and continue to have some great times with the members and staff. I never considered myself an excellent Hold’em player. In fact, the opposite would apply to me. I had no idea how to play the game but I have learned some strategies from watching other players and reading tips from the forum.

Although I continued to go up and down in winnings, it wasn't until I got to play a tournament with James Woods that I got a tickle and gained some confidence. Just being able to play him (never mind win against him) was amazing. Talk about an ego boost! I needed it!

Everyday I would check out the WSOP tournament information and watch great player names join the list along with the celebrity names – and there were lots of them! I knew I would play it, but more for the social aspect than as a serious contender. I joined the $2 tournament that Hollywood Poker offered as a chance to win a seat at the WSOP Shootout. After 5 tries, I finally won that ticket. So, I was in like flint.

The start of the Shootout was the gathering of all gatherings. The social hour before the Shootout was in itself an incredible time, where well wishes and laughter rang out between celebrities and players making a thrilling adventure even more thrilling because of the wonderful moments to remember.

Now the game: I wasn't really paying much attention to my playing strategy in the beginning and I'm still not sure when I realized I was catching some serious cards and my stack was increasing quickly. I was so into the social aspect of it that I didn’t realize how well I was doing until another member pointed it out!

Excited and in great spirits, I started to pay the game the attention it deserved. I made it to the final three, realizing not only how lucky I was, but realizing what an incredibly close and tight group we have here at Hollywood Poker. That day, we stood as one, no matter who won! We were ALL going to the WSOP in the name of Hollywood Poker.

The encouragement and support I received from everyone in the lobby truly brought tears to my eyes and kept me from becoming a nervous wreck. I am proud to have met the people here and to be apart of this Hollywood Poker Community.

I have had some fun moments, ranging from the head to head tournament, the tournament
with James Woods and now, placing 3rd in the WSOP Shootout.

What's next? I can hardly wait to see! Good luck to everyone and again, THANK YOU for your support and friendship.
