What kind of themed tournaments would you like to see?

I think Lady Vowel had a great idea with the Women's tournament, but how on earth do we keep the men from coming in drag??? hahaha ;) :computer: :worship: :wagfinger

I think the women of HP deserve to have a tourney for them only just because we are great. And the guys are getting the calendar so let us have something in return lol, xAeiouX had a great idea.

I think in the sports off seasons (winter for baseball and spring and summer for football, etc.) would be a great poker tourney. and ladies night is always a great idea as well. those would be my 2 votes (for one vote I give it to sports)

Ok I'll admit that ladies night is a good theme, but as a male it does me no good so I didn't vote for it (and to be non-sexist, if you do it, have a men only tournament too) :)
Your option for Nascar makes little sense to a non-Nascar watcher like me - although there are probably alot of NASCAR fans out there (and at HP) there is not much association between "Hollywood" and Nascar in most folk's minds beyond sunglasses. :cool: In that sense it would be hard for you to promote such a tourney outside of the Nascar fans who already play at HP.

And how would you 'theme' a tournament anyway?

Like the MWI? Is that "themed" as in "play against celebs?" So the 'reality' and 'soap' themes would be to play against these kind of celebs only? And maybe you meant play against Nascar Drivers? All of those are equally good, equally interesting - but to choose one would be a mistake - see who you can get together and just do it - the regulars will come and you can attract new players by the association - and then do a different one, like 1st Saturday of month: Nascar Drivers, 2nd Saturday: reality show hosts, etc...

But what I would think would be really cool and appropriate would be tournaments themed around new or famous movies or TV shows. Such as the "Welcome Back Kotter Tournament" where I'm sure you could get Gabe Kaplan to play and some other cast/crew members too. And you could include a special prize like a vist to the set or site or unique memorabilia.

Just my thoughts - whatever you do, :cheers: HP is still the best site I've found to play poker and I wish you continued success.

A ladies tournament would be the way to go. It would give us male railbirds an insight on how aggressive they can be.

I think the "poker" theme is the best. :-) Tie tournaments to land-based tournaments, like you are doing with WPT and you did for WSOP.

Perhaps have a weekly "Masters" tournament where you track placement results for all HP players for this specific weekly tournament only, compiling results / annually for a "tournament player of the year". Keep the buy-in low so you don't exclude too many people, like the MWI ($10-20). People can use it for bragging rights, spawning more chat and that great community feeling that you have on this site.

i think it would be cool if there were competitions throughout a week or howver long it took that were free to enter 1000 entrants every1 gets a ticket for the tournaments but you can only enter 1 time only. Top 100 or 50 win other tickets to further tourneys and so on maybe going on through 3 stages until the last final ticket tourny with 500 people in then they all get like $2-3 for getting that far and getting larger until like first place wins $500 or sumthing and getting the first ranking HP player. They also get ranking from 500-1st place so that next theyre name they have a rank which can give them the respect they deserve as good poker players maybe they could hide the rank aswell if they wished. ]

Europe v's USA.. Then a decent tourney might start at a reasonable time for those NOT stateside.

i think since its almost football season we should have tourny with 2 tickets to the superbowl up for grabs. or hook the winners up in true hollywood style with a sky booth and a party at the superbowl for the whole final table. ;)

I really would like to play against some of the FEMALE soap opera stars, but you don't have anywhere to vote for that...so my next best tourney would be a soap opera star tourney.

I personally have met Alan Quartermain (Stuart Damon) and his son, when he was a coach to my son in baseball. I would love to see if he plays and how he plays.

Anyway...my second pick would be a Ladies Only, but again...some men think that they want to dress up and be a woman and play in these, so its really hard not to end up with a few in...but if they were not allowed to collect the prizes, then maybe they wouldn't be soooo hot to play in the ladies only tourney...Just my thoughts

I've seen women's tournaments, I've seen Nascar poker tournaments too. To have something really intersting that could draw much attention how about soap opera stars tournaments. Either each tournney a different show or have competing soaps battle it out. Imagine Erica Kane battling it out.
