Katrina Relief Tournaments at Hollywood Poker

We are looking for your support in an effort to aid those affected by the disaster in the Gulf Coast area.

For the entire month of September Hollywood Poker will be matching the prize pool for every Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational (http://www.hollywoodpoker.com/tournaments/michael-woods-invitational.html) tournament as well as every Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic (http://www.hollywoodpoker.com/tournaments/celebrity-classic-poker-tournament.html) tournament. We will match the entire prize pool for each and every celebrity tournament this month and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross and the International Hospital for Children Foundation.

Join us Thursday nights at 10pm EST for the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational and Sunday afternoons at 2pm EST for the Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic.

We are deeply sympathetic to all those affected by this disaster and we thank you in advance for your participation in our relief efforts.

Regards,

Hollywood Poker Support Team

I never in my life thought I would see the kind of horror currently seen in New Orleans happen anywhere in the U.S. - politics aside, we all must do what we can to help.

I commend HP for its contribution. But as I play these tournaments regularly anyway, I chose to make a personal donation to the Red Cross.

For those who wish to do likewise, here's the link:

(Added to the Suggestion Box - Reposted Here)

Just heard from the man himself that the 'Powers that Be' here at Hollywood Poker are matching the pots in the Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational Tourneys (see previous threads here also) all month and sending it toward the Katrina Relief Efforts.

WAY TO GO!!! :waytogo:

Never thought I'd have a reason to be proud of a Poker Site.

My question is: If we all that play in the MWCI would mind an extra $1 added to the buy-in on those MWCI's so that we could in that way be doing our part as well?

Not sure if this can be done easily tech-wise, or if it might be in violation of any of the gaming laws but just thought I'd ask you all and the 'Powers that Be' if it would work.

If, for some reason it can't be done then maybe we could all INVITE-A-FRIEND that we play with here regularly that has never tried the MWCI to join us in one? If we all brought one each in with us, in that way we would be getting our extra $1 of support in, raising the matched pots and introducing new players to the neatest Tourney on the Net. DISCO! :disco:

So what do you all say???????? Next bet's up to you guys. :hpchip:

they are donating the entire prize pool, which i assume includes the $500 added. That more than makes up for the $1 fee.
