My pet peeve is players TRYING to play multiple tables who can't effectively play one table. Besides losing, there is nothing LESS fun than watching and waiting for some as%%%le to finally play........if he/she doesn't time out first.
I've seen some few jerks trying to play 7 (SEVEN) tables !!

Sometimes we end up playing multi tables; when we really do not like it.
Multi-table play does not work no matter what they tell you. How can you do well when you cannot pay any attention to the game?
The most I have TRIED to play is Four (because the Forums I belong to-had games at the same time.) I had a hint from "pro tips" that you can change the resolution on your computer so that more tables "fit" and you can more easily play then; although this does help a little.
There is one problem of different timing. one table is moving fast; another one is slower. but you cannot just check a pre-bet of call or fold because you want to make a bigger bet. So you have to wait for "your turn".
My problem always seems like when i am trying to raise a Bet (moving the bar) on 1 site; the other one pops up and interferes. if u play more tables on the same site-u can sometimes end up folding the 1 you want to bet and going all in on the 1 u wanted to fold.
A lot of times, on HP; we get overlapping games, if we are still in the previous one. That puts on more than one table. I have a real problem here, because i have a very slow connection which means i have to bet at once or i get folded.
If you really want to "Play Poker", one at a time is the best rule. ;)

Connection issues play a big role here - when I am at my office computer (after hours of course  ) with its latest OS and DSL connection, my computer can easily manage 4 or more tables (even if i can't); at my home computer with its old OS and dial-up, it is too easy to freeze it with more than one table.
But with the good computer/connection I have the best results playing 2 tables (usually I like one cash game and one tournament game). I find it easy to pay attention to 2 tables, and the HP softtware with its prompts makes sure I am never slow at either one. :waytogo:
The main reason for my playing 2 tables is too (honestly) improve my play. I get bored folding as often as the cards dictate I should and that boredom often, when playing one table, leads me to call and play more hands than I should.
When playing 2 tables, however, I rarely get bored. Shortly after folding at one table I will get new cards at the other and my interest will go up again. If those cards need to be folded also, well, no problem, I go back to the first table for the short wait to new cards there.
May not work for everyone, but it works for me!

Two is my limit, not technology-wise, but concentration-wise. Most games I play two at a time don't suffer and as skall stated above may even improve. However, that being said, should either, or both, of the games become tight contests, then it does hamper my abilities by splitting my total concentration in two. I usually sit-out on the one I have the most room - chipwise, blindwise, etc. - to establish or take back a beach head on the most critical of the two.
The most ironic part of playing two games at a time is that quite often - and by this I mean a lot of times - I will have been very patient for nearly 20 minutes or so, folding at best medium strength hand after hand waiting for the right one to move when finally I've a great hand . . . on both tables at the exact same time. This may sound lucky, but it is more a dilemma than a godsend - for me anyway. The result is that I usually make one and go bust with the other which leads me to wonder if I hadn't divided my attention that I might have been able to make both work. Oh well . . . just multi-table poker on-line, I guess. Not so sure I am an ultimate fan of playing all my games this way. But it is nice to have the option.

I like to only play one because I talking to much! Alot of time I find myself playing two lately. Not good for my game tho, it gets hard to concentrate and I don't like to miss when people talk to me. So I really need to stick to playing one table or :computer: :river:

Playing poker is like making love to a fine women. "Thinking of you Honey " sorry was I thinking out loud again. :silly: Anyway if you want to do it right it takes time and concentration. Playing to many tables or women you may end up with a toe in your eye  Not bad but someone is going home not completely satisfied.

On the right track Swiftbird. But then from that I could assume that playing two or more tables at once would be like making love to several fine women. Indeed, it takes more time and much more concentration, not to mention stamina. However, the experience is rather unique and the results can be very rewarding. Not as a steady diet, not suicidal or anything here, but it is a challenging sport every man should try at least once . . . or twice . . . or . . . anyway, just not in the same week.

I can only do one table at a time...i too get connection issues...but i like to chrip in the lobby while in a free roll or tournament.
I have played two games at once but not by choice...it usually happens when i entered in a free roll and then joined an sng game...yes (Bonner Ave) and it takes longer than i expected...Doh
Im not a great multi tasker and prefer to give one game my whole attention...disractions lead to eliminations.

I usually can only play one at a time. I find that if I try to play 2, I end up losing 2!! It gets too hard to keep an eye on who is playing what style when I'm doing more then 1 at a time. And since I like to try to get a handle on what my opponents are calling and raising with, playing one table at a time lets me concentrate more.
I know others like to play multi tables, but that can also slow things down, when a table has to constantly wait for a player to make his move.
Just my thoughts.........

Howdy everyone in Pokerland:
I play one or two tables at a time. Playing two was difficult at first but it is actually fun and helpful. I am strictly talking about ring games, tournaments are a different thing as we all should know. See Ya.
