View Full Version : Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic - October 2nd

Hey everyone.
So someone told me a riddle yesterday. They asked me, "What's so cool that it's hot?"
Of course I said, "The Hollywood Poker Celebrity Classic! (https://member.hollywoodpoker.com/tournaments/celebrity-classic-poker-tournament.html)"
It turns out that was not the answer they were looking for, but it really is the right one!
With 500 big ones added to the prize pool, and bounties on our stars heads that range from $20-$100, it's easy to see why the HPCC is quickly becoming one of our biggest tournaments.
I can't wait to see you all Sunday.
Cheers,
Charles

First one of HP Support to remember to mention Pamela and all the support and effort she puts in making the Celebrity Classic the success that it is. Pamela and her minions salute you. Thank you, Sir. You are a true gentleman.
Oh, and by the way, the 'What's so cool that it's hot' riddle . . . only one proper answer to that PAMELA GIDLEY !!!
Congratulations to all the winners of cash, bounties and bragging rights in this weeks' Celebrity Classic. Even those out of the money. I saw many folks move closer to the final table in their finishing positions this week. Keep at it all. Some of you are only a couple more winning hands away from tremendously better finishes next week. See you all then.

I've only been here less than a week but it looks to me that Hollywood Poker has great support people all around. I've been reading all the message boards trying to get familiar with things. And I noticed that both Suzanne and Julie have written lovely comments about Ms. Gidley and what she does here in a number of posts. Suzanne has mentioned Ms. Gidley a number of times in posts about several Celebrity Classics and Julie made some great comments about her in the thread someone started about "Do you want Pam as permanent Hostess?" I did notice that Julie forgot to mention Ms. Gidley in writing about last weeks tournament, and that seemed to cause some hard feelings. I didn't quite get that given all the nice things that Suzanne and Julie had said before that point. Just wanted to compliment all the Hollywood Poker support staff for all their work. They all seem like really great people.

Both Suzanne and Julie have said many nice things about Pamela Gidley previously. And they, and the rest of the support staff are really nice people and one of the reasons that I like HP and why it is my favorite place to play on-line.
I may have mis-stated my intent here. I wanted to let Charles know I was very appreciative that Pamela was not forgotten in this week's recap of the Celebrity Classic. It was possibly just a human error that she was not mentioned last week. I know I've made a bunch of them myself. However, what you may or may not know, and why I had sharpened my comment a little bit is that Pamela has hosted the Celebrity since its beginning here.
She does a great job of hosting it, for which she is not really compensated. So many of us thought, quite a while ago now, that she should either be named its permanent host, ala the Michael Woods Celebrity Classic, or she should possibly have her own tourney at another day and time. Either way, many of us feel she has earned that recognition. Everyone at HP that you speak with, staff, etc seems to agree, yet it hasn't come to pass and Pamela is only asked week by week to adjust her schedule to host one more time.
That is why the oversight of last week was given more play than it probably deserved. Nothing against Suzanne or Julie or anyone else for sure. And my post here may also look like a cheap shot at them now that I re-read it, and that was not my intent either. I just have a big mouth - or fingers, as the case may be - and am trying to get anyone higher up at HP that can make these kind of decisions to do so. And also wanted to pat Charles on the back in the process.
Thank you for pointing out to me that what I wrote doesn't read exactly as I intended. I am glad to have had the opportunity to explain here. I hope I did a better job of it now.
Suzanne, Julie, Hollay, Charles and all the rest of HP staff and support are the best. It just appears this decision is out of their control. And that is too bad because I do believe if it were up to any one of them it would have been a done deal a long time ago.
Thanks 14K. Appreciate your take on it.

Al,
I was going to direct you to my previous wrap up posts post-classic where I thanked Pamela and praised her as the hostess but 14kgold did a nice job for me.
I sure hope you wear your mint-flavored shoes around here...heh heh,
Suzanne

Suzanne, didn't mean to sound like I don't think you support this effort for Pamela, I know that you do. But, I guess what I wrote did come out that way. Was just trying to pat Charles for coming onboard as well.
Please consider it just Friendly Fire, fully unintended, but hurtful all the same. I do apologize to you - and the others as well.
Btw . . . they are cordovan wingtips . . . so I guess that makes them boysenberry? And yeah, I've sucked most of the flavour out of them lately.
