Since I've been playing here for some time now, I thought I would submit something to the Player Spotlight. I was born and raised in Adirondack area of New York, and got a little older in the Rockies of Colorado. I'm sure there is mountain rock in my bones. Currently I'm aging quite nicely near the city - on the water in Portland, Oregon. It's there that I earn my living as a teacher, where high-school English and creative writing fill my days.
I've met a bunch of fantastic people online. It's amazing how easily you can join a community of folks with similar interests and find friendly and outgoing people to share those interests with. A few years ago (almost five now), I took up golf. Now, I'll concede that I'm a terrible golfer. While learning, frustration had become like a friend, but I was determined to stop loosing golf balls and get my game down. I joined a forum at a popular golf site and met a couple of people who gave me all kind of tips and techniques for improving my swing, stance, and grip. After the first season I played with a couple of the guys who were close by and sharing the same course, and every once in while I'll get a message from them asking me to come out and play a round.
Well, I'm still a pretty terrible golfer but I've always loved playing cards after a stressful day at work (and teenagers tend to induce stress - regardless of whether they're yours or not). I learned how to play poker from my big brother John when we were young. John lives about a thousand miles away now, but I email him often, and from time to time we'll both come to Hollywood Poker and play some Hold'em. The people around here are hilarious and tons of fun to play with, and I'm so glad I found the place.
So if you happen to see me around the tables, drop in say hello... and bring your cash.
