In this week’s Spotlight, meet Dooxtab!
You may know me as Dooxtab or just plain "Doox" for short, but my real name is Jeremy and I'm in my late 20's. I've used this online name for a while now, and people inevitably ask, "What's a Dooxtab?" Now, I could go into the long, boring story of how the word is actually meaningless and that my friend and I discovered it nestled in a word-search during study hall, but I usually just end up telling them I'm Swedish. For some reason, I've found that this tends to get a lot of "oh....ok" responses.
I originally started my online poker career at another site until a friend of mine told me about Hollywood Poker. I was a small-stakes player and mostly just playing freerolls and low-stakes ring games back then. At the time, I was intrigued, but it took a while before I finally came over to check things out. I remember the first time I poked around in the lobby, I saw Charles in Charge himself - Scott Baio. It seems that my friend never fully explained to me that at this site, the term "Hollywood" isn't just for show. Of course, after I learned that there were freerolls about every 20 minutes, I figured it was worth sticking around. Since then, I've won a little bit on the free tournaments, turned that little bit into a little more, and am now more comfortable plopping 10 bucks down to play a Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational. See, it's not that I'm cheap, it's just that...Ok, I'm cheap. I'm working on it though.
In the spirit of the holidays, I thought I would take this time to talk about how it is truly better to give than to receive, and how you should always help out your fellow man. I want each and every one of you to experience the meaning of the holidays, so here is a list of things that I want:
A new computer so that my screen doesn't freeze up on me in the middle of a hand.
The 2's and 7's to be stricken from the deck (or at least my hand).
A revision of poker rules to allow my 3 of a kind to beat a river flush.
A free ticket to the MWCI.
A pony.
In lieu of the above items, I'll happily take money. ‘Tis the season, and all.
I know what you're thinking: "But Dooxtab, isn't that selfish?" Well if you call helping out my fellow poker players by teaching them a valuable life lesson selfish, then call me Scrooge. One day, this will help you realize that life is all about how we treat each other, and that a little kindness goes a long way.
You can thank me later.
~Dooxtab
Editor's Note:
I’ve already granted one of Dooxtab’s wishes by giving him a ticket to Michael Woods Celebrity Invitational. I leave the rest to all of you.
Just so you know, ponies don’t generally ship well.
