On the 1st of January 2005 my husband and I arrived in Las Vegas on vacation. We checked into the Hilton, and guess what? We have just celebrated one year of blissful living in the most exciting city on the planet.
In one year I have lost and won, laughed and cried and thoroughly enjoyed becoming the "Poker Diva" of the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas. I have had straight flushes and one royal flush! I have folded or ‘holded’ at the wrong time. I have been heads up with the big boys and loved every moment of it. Paul (my husband) and I play there regularly. They know us by name and warmly welcome us when we enter the poker room.
The highlight of the vacation was the World Series of Poker - watching the big guns was amazing. I was in training to be the next Annie Duke. I even sported the t-shirt WWAD ( What Would Annie Do?).
This vacation has turned into a good one, but unfortunately all good things come to an end, so we move on at the end of the month.
Nothing is perfect but this place comes real close.

Entry #2
About 8 years ago I took my girlfriend and children to Vegas. What a great city! And they say New York is the city that never sleeps. I think the insomnia is contagious to, because even my 5 year old was up to all hours of the night. After the first few days, I saw no point arguing with her.
One night, we took the kids to the MGM Grand to look around since we’d be told it was a fairly kid-friendly place. The girlfriend and I decided to let my oldest (an uncommonly responsible and rigid 15 year old) take care of the kids for a bit so we could check out the gambling. Within 10 minutes, we were approached by a security guard who informed us that my children were playing the slots and we needed to go collect them. They were being ‘detained’. Apparently, the Vegas vibe can rub off on almost anyone.
Clara, the 15 year old, is now 23 and makes her living in card rooms. I’m not sure if I should be proud that I instigated this, but the fact remains she is doing very well for herself and credits me with introducing her to her profession during our Vegas vacation. Again, not sure if I’m thrilled about this, but like many parents, I try to adopt the ‘If they’re happy, I’m happy’ stance.
