Alright, so time and time again, I find that experienced players LOVE this hand. Personally, I don't know why? Okay, open-ended straight, but are statistics higher w/ this hand or what? I need some help from an experienced player. Also, everyone loves A-K (for obvious reasons), but does anyone have another favorite hand, if so, why?

The Ladies (QQ) is my favorite hand. Because the AA slaughters me almost always. The Kings get tatoo'ed by the Aces when I have em and the J's usually get livered by the Aces and Kings but the SHEGALS always come out on top to crown the 3 of them on the 3-N's and they limp away more times than not :waytogo: ;) :tu: :pokergame :worship: :spade: :diamond:  :club: :

I agree w/ you both!!! Pocket 2's ALWAYS seem to benefit somehow... But pocket Q's are great because everytime I get 'em the rest of my opponents seem to end up w/ nothing!

My fav starting hand is K 9, suited or not. Don't know why, but more often then not, I always seem to flop a match with that hand.

Schafy, there is no magical, or strategic power inherent in this hand. many hands, such as 22 or Q7, have just been assigned a superstious, mythical "power" that they really don't merrit.
If you have been seeing people "love" this hand, then it's just that: silly supersticion (or however you spell that)
It is true, that this hand is MUCH better than the micro Suited connectors, such as 54s or 56s, the hand has no power of any kind, until at LEAST the flop.
As far as favorite hands, ATE likes:
Pat wheel in lowball
three aces in draw, with EVERY"ONE drawing three cards
Rolled-up tens, in seven stud.
AAA234 triple-suited, in English-style 6-card omaha hi low.
THESE are hands that have tremendous power, NOT ANY, repeat ANY hold em hand.
This is why ATE (and anyone in the know, though they will never admit it)
doesn't even classify hold em, as a "poker" game.
In true poker games, the very best starting hands will remain the best hand, WAy way way way more often than they do not, even to the point of being COMPLETLY unbeatable.
I want to BARF MY GUTS OUT, every time I see the numbers on my TV screen, showing the respective chances of each of the hands that went all in.
HELLO! HELLO! in POKER, there's NONE of this "55 - 45" BULLPOOP!
in POKER, when someone has the worst hand, THAT'S FREAKIN IT!
So, let's all start chanting a new mantra
"well, THAT'S HOLD EM"
AND STOP SAYING: "well, that's POKER"
I have spoken

Thanks so much for clearing that up for me ATE, because I thought (as you said) "there was something magical" about this hand! I thought maybe when everyone else got the special NEWSFLASH that this hand was #1, I was nowhere to be found! I assumed that it was probably just fishies, but I assumed RIGHT! Thanks!

I wonder how long it will take, before y'all here (as have so many others, on many other sites) realize that:
(1) I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about
(2) I 'm much more willing to spend a LOT of time, making sure that the material is presented in a manner that makes SURE people understand.
(3) The whole "ATE thing" is mostly just my SCHTICK, and I should no more be hated for it, than you would hate Andy Robinson, for playing the crazed killer in 1971's DIRTY HARRY (poor guy coulnt' get any work for a LONG time after t hat, go look up his website)
I am an artist, a genius of poker, and also a genius of being a nasty-bass CUSS, that makes people pay attention, so that they can FREAKIN" learn.
If I were to present the material in a "Ben Steinian" manner, people would just fall alseep.
Oh, if you could just see me at a table, I'll show you who the REAL "mouth" player is.
And no more freakin' superstitions about starting hands! AA is the best starting hand in hold em, dont' let ANYONE kid you.
