Well, I just had my first celebrity encounter and it was fantastic. I was a little intimidated at first, I mean - this is James Woods (Scott hand't joined right away) after all. After a few hands, James was just chatting with us all - and Scott Baio had joined in...I kinda let on that I was new at the game (I take a long time to figure out what I'm gonna do, even to fold...lol, I felt obligated). The best part was James coming right out offering tips and stuff (even to show his cards to help me see out his hand and stuff) - just being an all around great guy for someone like me who is new at this whole poker thing. Needless to say I felt much better about sitting down with this Hollywood heavy shooting a few bucks around the poker tables. Can't wait to get back at it...

Thanks James, really appreciate that - was great fun, hope to see you out at the tables again soon :)

How could he possibly do that? Especially if you were in the same game...I sure hope "Celebs" don't have special powers or something...

I believe Mr Woods was showing his cards when he won the hand, you have the option of showing your cards or not.

Ya, that's what he was doing - hoping I might learn a thing or two based on the outcome ya know :P, in fact I did - I should have called James' bluff at least once :waytogo:

In any case - was a great guy to play against, really - even though I'm probably a little too new to say something so bold...

When it shows in the lobby chat that a star has logged in, me and others have tried to chat with them and they never answer. Why is that?

Sometimes they just log in to see what's going on and then leave, so they might not actually be there when you try and chat with them. Some of the celebrities don't chat in the lobby when they are at a table but they will chat at the table. You can watch a table without being on it to see what the celebs are saying.

If James Woods is logged in and playing at a table he usually chat in the lobby.

I have wondered the same thing.

I think that online poker is new to alot of celebrities as well, i didn't do to much chatting when i was a real newbie.

It may also have something to do with not watching the lobby when they are playing. Anytime that i have played with a celeb they have been very gracious with me but then again i tend to loose to them an awful lot

And remember, too, people, that when they log on, usually they get bombarded by people trying to chat with them! They've got their game, and the 9 people at their table, so it's not all that easy to also spread out to the lobby also! But I do know that James and Micheal DO manage it a lot of the time!! :D

Just realize it is not easy, OK?

I played in the Red Carpet tourney tonite and was lucky enough to get seated across from Scott Baio! I also got to play with James the other nite after chatting with him in the lobby and he's very down-to-earth and friendly.

Speaking for myself, I like chatting up our players in the lobby and at the table. Not to be plugging my tourney, but, best time to catch many celebs is at the MWI. We usually get a good number of celebs playing. I hope to play and chat with our newer players here at HP soon. Just take it easy on my stack!
