Dunno if its too early to think about this, but am curious about the future of the MWCI? I propose that we keep the tourney as a memorial to the great man he was. I'm sure he would love to see the best tourney HP has ever had, live on in his name. Seeing it first hand going from a 20 person tourney to what it is now, all the credit should go to him and would serve as a tribute to all the work he put into it. Maybe the addition of the word "Memorial" would be more fitting? Not sure but we (the players and HP staff) will make the appropriate decision.

I myself would be very disappointed if the MWCI fades away.

I agree Gary - while I dont really have an opinion one way or another about adding the word memorial - the MWCI was Michael's tournament. As you can see from my start date I too remember those first few tournaments, I remember the first one to break a hundred and how happy Michael was to see that. We all know it was his grace and charm that made that tournament so popular, that made it the signature HP event of the week.

However it is done, Michael would want that tournament to continue.

And everyone who ever played in it and was witness to Michael's good nature as host would never stand for his name not being there.

I was in contact with Hp concerning this last night. I was told that currently the intention is to keep it running, but they wanted to talk to James and the family before they change the name or make it permanent.

I appreciate HP's sensitivity in this matter and trust they will do the best thing as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info Surf. I understand completely that they need to talk to Jimmy and his family about it. I wouldn't want it any other way. ;) His family should have the final decision on the name of his tourney.

Skall, I remember very well all the people that have been here for what seems like forever. You are included my friend! ;)
