New Tournament Ideas
I also posted this in the Suggestion Box section.
Let me just start this out by saying, I know there has been problems with the site, but I feel they are working hard on it and will be fixed soon. If we keep up the suggestions now for when it is fixed completely, then it will be that much faster that we get the "NEW" stuff.
I think its great that HP is listening to us about our concerns for new tournaments. The turn out for the free roll was nice, so I believe we can make a good showing for others as well. There is getting to be a very good base of players here at HP, so lets start using that to bring us all together more often.
Here's a few ideas I have and if everyone else posts their feedback and new suggestions here, I think they will be heard.
1. What about an "Unlimited Rebuy" for the first hour, with an add-on at the end of the hour? Maybe a $5+.50 buy in with $5 rebuys and add-on? Even a lower price could be good. It would bring out more people but may also bring out the BAD in many of the players...Hard to say? Prizes for this could be just the cash accumulated or even tickets to bigger tournaments like the "Grand". ie. One ticket for every $108 in the prize pool with the excess going to the bubble person. (this suggestion courtesy of CJDavis, with some of my own twists)
2. "2 Table Sit n Go's". I know there is a few $20 two table tournaments during the day but what about having them as a regular sit n go at all price ranges, all the time?
3. "Head to Head" tournaments. You beat your opponent then you move along the ladder to face another until there is only 1 person left standing. Can pay down several spots depending on entries like normal.
4. "Poker Point" buy in tournaments with either "cash prizes" or "tournament tickets" for the people who finish at the top.
5. "Ladder Sattelite Tournaments" are also alot of fun and a great way for a small bankroll player to get a large payout from a small investment. How these work is, At the end of every week there is a big buy in tournament, lets say $100, for which each level will be shooting for. The first level could be as small as $1 buy in ($10 pool), with 2 people winning a seat to a $5 buy in ($50 pool), which 3 people would win a seat to a $15 buy in ($150 pool) and 4th will recieve a seat back in another $5 buy in to try again. You can see where this is going? It would allow a person with a $1 investment to make it to a $100 buy in tournament with just that $1 or someone could start at whatever level they would like. Sounds like this could be a fun way to make a good $100 buy in tournament for HP every week! This would be structured as Sit n Go's for anyone to join, at anytime, or level they choose. I do see that in my example above, the lack of rake is there, but could be worked out in the math or require the rake to be paid by the player at each level he/she wins a seat to.
All of these I've suggested could be everyday, not just once a week!
Well there is a few of mine, now lets hear your feedback and/or suggestions?
After we get quite a few other suggestions or feedback from this, I will start a poll, including times, to see which is the best for everyone!

This type of rebuy tourney, with a low buy it would certainly bring a high pay out. With a rebuy before the break, I like that!
I also believe it would be a good turn out, especially if this was a regular tourney played on a weekend.
Great Ideas Gary!

I used to play those kinds of rebuys at PokerGamingClub and holy crap I used to win lost of money but never placed 1st but would put in my initial $5+.50 and a $5 add on at the end of the 1st hr and usually win Min of $30 profit. Shoot the 1st place pots were HIGH. I really enjoyed those games.
It's a great idea!!

i like most of the ideas...
i can't say i like Unlimited Re-Buy tournies though....Every hand turns into an all-in fest..the whole first hour is a joke.
id pass on these if offered
i acutally like the fact that the Rebuys on this site are limited....and because of that i'll play in them

I also like the partypoker idea of stage or steps tourneys where you work your way thru to level five. Good competition and good payoffs for a reasonable buy-in.
Also, I do not like the unlimited rebuy tourneys either. A tourney of one or two rebuys with one add-on is good.
thanks.

Hey Kids,
I really hate re-buys as well. Avoid them like the plague. I would like to see more two table SNG's. I really like the $10 multi's as long as there is not more than 300 players. More players give me more time for a brain fart, and I am usually out in 43rd.
I do really like HP in general compared to all of the other sites I have played. People seem to be much more civil, although they do enjoy taking my chips. I do wish that would stop!
Good luck at the tables!

I've been playing play money here for a couple weeks now (I play cash at ********) and am considering a permanent move here...
What I would love to see are 5 level SnG Step games (single or double table).
