Thought you guys would like this. I won the $2,500 "Apology" tournament and here's how:
I played at home for about 2 1/2 hours when I realized that I had to leave to go the airport for a business trip. I was in the top 40 spots when I begged my wife to play me out. She refused. "I'll knock you out earlier than if you just let the blinds run you out." With the #1 or #2 stack, I leave the tournament.
So, I shut off the computer, hop in the car and drive off to pick up my staff. 45 minutes later, after picking them up, share my SOB story. Bob, one of my technology architects, tells me he has a wireless tablet PC where he can get on the internet anywhere in the cities. We fire it up and shockingly so, I still have $8,000 in chips! I'm two positions from the big blind of $4,000 and there are 21 people left. During the drive to the airport, fight my way back to the final table with a halfway decent stack.
In the airport terminal, I realize I can't pass security without losing my connection. Two of my co-workers head to the terminal and Bob and I stay back. I battle and battle. After a bit, Bob tells me we're 15 minutes from boarding. I keep playing on his tablet while we wait in the security line. I kid you not, I pushed my chips all in right before showing my drivers license and WIN the tournament with a flopped full house - sevens full of aces. I toss the tablet to Bob. We run to the plane and fly off to Palo Alto.
How cool is that? I used the winnings to buy a new Apple laptop, affectionately called "Sevens full of Aces".
I also placed in the money in all three of the freerolls I played in of the "$10,000 Freeroll Week". I wish I had enough points to play the biggest one. Yay.
See you at the tables.
