It is with great sadness that we inform you that Michael Woods passed away on Wednesday July 26th, 2006. Michael has touched everyone here at Hollywood Poker as is evidenced by all the posts about him in our forum.

This is the official thread to post your messages about and for Michael Woods. We will pass along all condolences posted here to the Woods family.

I am at a loss to fully express myself upon hearing this sad news. My sincerest condolences to Micheal's entire family and my sincere sympathy to all of those who knew Michael Woods.

There is an old viking poem that goes:

Cattle die, kindred die, all must die someday.
But one thing I know lives on.
The impact a man's life has had on those around him.

I have always loved that verse.

Michael Woods was the friendliest, most laid-back and easygoing of all the people on this site - celeb or player. His personality made the MWCI the signature HP event. He leaves such a loving legacy of kindness and respect that I personally feel this loss too, even having never met the man. But he always said hi to me in the lobby ....

Rest in peace Michael, may there be nothing but good cards for you.

My heart goes out to the Woods family. My deepest sympathies for your great loss.

I've stated before that I hate it when bad things happen to good people. As poker players, we're used to bad beats, but I think this takes the prize for the worst "Bad Beat" that this site will ever see.

My deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of MW and he will be greatly missed by many, but remembered by all. This kind man is a foundation to this site and without him, many of us would not have known some of the friends we have here. He has allowed a more personal, friendly atmosphere to playing poker online than anywhere else, which is why we have stayed with him and HP, we adore HP and he is our angel, now. God Bless...

To the family of Michael Woods;

My heart is truly saddened by the early departure of Michael. Originally I just stopped by almost two years ago to check out the new poker site and who was there to greet me was none other than Michael Woods. He carried himself with dignity and respect and made me feel special by going out of his way to talk with me. That was his uniqueness; he made anyone who came to here feel the same way. I was very humbled by how this man carried himself with all the players. He always found a way to show respect and make others feel welcomed. This was just one of his many special talents, and if we remember anything of him I hope it is how he respected all others no matter who they were or what they said. We didn't lose a celebrity here; we lost a gentleman and friend to all here. I can only hope I can be as patient and tolerant as he was to all others.

My prayers are with all his family at this time and know this, He touched more people with his heart and generosity than most others ever could hope for. I am so grateful to say I knew him, for I learned allot from him on how to respect others and treat each other as you expect to be treated.

God has taken a special person

The impact Michael had on my life the past two years will never be forgotten. I will treasure that forever in my heart.

What a very sad day for all. My greatest sympathies to his family and friends,who have a hugh hole in their hearts. We will all miss him at Hollywoodpoker, he was always friendly and kind to all. We weep with you and wish all the best in these sad times.
